Getting Pregnant

Are You Trying to Get Pregnant?

Trying to get pregnant or conceive a baby for most people start when they are settled or married. That can be anywhere between early 20s and late 30s. There are few cases of women getting pregnant and bearing healthy babies after 40 years. Though most women are blessed to conceive without trying to get pregnant for years, there are those of us who are not very lucky. Getting pregnant becomes elusive no matter how hard they try. If you find yourselves trying to get pregnant for several years without success, you may be dealing with infertility issues.

Science tells us that the ideal reproductive age of most women is anywhere from early 20s to late 30s with few exceptional cases of 40s. However, most family doctors do not recommend trying to get pregnant after 40 for health reasons. Therefore, as couples when you realize that you are not getting pregnant after several attempts, you should consider taking infertility test to make sure there is nothing wrong with both of you.  It is important to remember that anyone can have infertility problems; there is female infertility as well as male infertility issues.

If you have been trying to get pregnant in vain for long, you will understand the heartache that goes with it. Infertility is synonymous with sadness; it brings dullness, distress, and headache to any relationship and even those around you. In the process of trying to conceive without success, all the energy is drained from both partners. The longer you stay with infertility, the more misery you will experience and the more it will affect you and those around you. The situation gets worse as the years goes by especially for women more than men due to menopause.

Most couples with infertility issues feel ashamed and fail to seek infertility treatment. It is better to seek treatment than to endure childlessness! Also remember that delaying infertility treatment mean reducing your chances of getting pregnant. This is because as I mentioned above, the older you get (especially women) the lesser your chances of conceiving a baby. Remember the ideal reproductive window I mentioned above?

There is always the adoption option if you run out of time to bear your own baby, but it is not always easy to adopt. The adoption process is time consuming, expensive, and complex.
